A Message from the President
Thank you for visiting the Women to the World Homepage. We are committed to responding to the needs of
suffering women and children with compassion that leads to excellence. We invite you to learn more of how
you can help us save a life and instill a dream beyond survival.
The Mission of Women to the World provides the basis for rescuing women and children from poverty, dependency
and abuse.
Projects provide assistance so that disenfranchised women may take their rightful places as contributing members
of their families, communities, and nations.
We believe that education is the key that empowers women to provide for the needs of their families.
Measurable solutions include language and technical educational, micro-business certification, job-skill
training and community health instruction. Our objectives can be measured by reducing infant mortality,
reducing the numbers of suicides among Afghan women, for example.
Women to the World must address the sensitive issues of gender prejudices in the workplace in many cultures
around the world.
Women and children with which we have chosen to work are impacted by war, terrorism, disease, poverty, and
even natural disasters. Most of the time , these vulnerable women possess little to cope with traumatic life
situations or even survive them.
This harsh reality is the reason for our existence. The hope that drives us to action is practical and strong.
We know that it is possible to equip women who are abused by giving them life skills that can never be taken
away.
It has been our privilege for more than twenty five (25) years to come alongside women in Turkey, Peru,
Ukraine, Pakistan, Burkina Faso, Kenya, Zambia, Tajikistan, India, and Afghanistan (naming a few) to
identify and address some of their most critical needs. During most of those years our experienced
specialists provided practical, short-term training in specialized project design, family health, business
development, and education. We now embrace long-term commitments to the women and children we serve. We ask
you to join us in the fight against the ignorance of prejudice, disease, and abuse.
More than eight years ago we embarked on a long-term education and micro-business project in service to the
women and girls of Afghanistan. The intense need of women and girls who had been so suppressed by the Taliban
demanded our best in response to their cry. Because of the long and unique experiences of our Board and Staff,
we have been enthusiastically received, and Afghan women and girls are asking for more training as this is
written to you. Hundreds attend our centers daily, in spite of security risks that could take their lives.
The Women to the World Afghanistan project which we call "Women's Initiative for Life and Learning" involves
a Women's Center in a suburb of Kabul where we offer concentrated courses and adult education in English as a
Foreign Language (EFL) and Academic Courses in English (ACE) as well as practical skills training and health
education. A computer lab has been installed and women are asking for more courses that will prepare them for
employment in government or aid offices. Many of these women are widows, simply desiring to provide food,
clothing, and education for their children.
Also, watch for upcoming information on projects ranging from a computer education program for women and
girls in Burkina Faso, to first-aid and disaster response training for first responders. Practical,
humanitarian aid is continuing to lift the burden of refugees in Tajikistan, and a sewing project in
Afghanistan and Kenya continues.
The need for your help today is greater than ever. We seek qualified teachers willing to provide instruction
in Afghanistan, in the fields of EFL, computer skills, basic office skills, general health, and gender
sensitivity studies. We need help in funding all the work before us so that excellence can be our motto.
Thank you for picking up the phone or e-mailing us in order to contribute your gifts for those crying out for
help.
The years, 2009-2010 will bring unprecedented opportunity and blessing for women and children around the world
because of your financial support. Please help us meet these opportunities with dignity and excellence.
Please E-mail me at: survival@womentotheworld.org for short-term travel service opportunities, financial gifts of
honorariums, volunteer procedures and more. Happiness can be found as we reach out in love to a hurting work.
Serving With You,
